Journalist Serdar Karakoç, who was detained in the Netherlands upon Germany’s extradition request, was conditionally released by the court today.
Karakoç, who was brought to court today, was conditionally released until his trial on 24 July. Setting a 5 thousand euro bail, the court also decided that Karakoç will be subjected to signature practice one day a week. Karakoç’s passport was also confiscated and a ban on travelling abroad was imposed.
The judge also ruled that Karakoç must attend the hearing on 24 July.
Karakoç was detained from his home by the Dutch police on 23 May. Karakoç, who was arrested upon Germany’s extradition request, has been active in free press activities since the 1990s.
