The minimum form of support for the Kurdish struggle against oppression and persecution by the Turkish regime is to ask for the non-extradition to Germany of the Kurdish Kenan Ayas, who is a recognised political refugee and has been living in Cyprus for a decade.
If Germany or other countries are forced or want to satisfy Turkey’s blackmail, the Republic of Cyprus should not follow.
We cannot honour the memory of our compatriot, hero, fighter and supporter of the Kurdish struggle, Theofilos Georgiades, but extradite Kurds to other countries, who may even end up in Turkey and in certain death.
We hope that the judiciary will take all the parameters surrounding the case of Kenan Ayas seriously and not decide to extradite him.
